SAN DIEGO — San Diego men's soccer (1-7, 0-0 WCC) returns home this week for a matchup against a local foe, facing off with UC San Diego (2-4, 0-0 Big West) on Wednesday in a 7 p.m. game at Torero Stadium.

The game is set to be streamed live on the WCC Network, and live statistics will be available on USDToreros.com.

ALL-TIME RECORD AGAINST UC SAN DIEGO
The Toreros are 7-5-1 against the Tritons all-time, and have won each of their last six games versus UC San Diego.

USD has outscored UCSD by a 26-19 margin in their 13 total meetings.

The two teams most recently met in October of 1999, an 8-2 USD win at Torero Stadium that remains the most combined goals in a game in USD men's soccer history.

San Diego is 7-1-1 against the Tritons all-time at Torero Stadium, a span that dates back to 1984 — the year in which the series' lone tie occurred.

USD's last loss to UC San Diego came in 1988, a 3-1 decision at Torero Stadium.

LAST TIME OUT
The Toreros dropped a tough 3-1 loss at Cal State Fullerton last time out on Sunday night despite taking a 1-1 tie into the 76th minute at Titan Stadium.

Luke Pardoe notched his first goal in a USD uniform in the 22nd minute, but CSUF evened the score in the 27th minute, then secured the win with a pair of late goals in the 76th and 77th minutes to prevail by a 3-1 margin.

Pardoe led the way for the Toreros with four shots (one on goal), and Johnstone and Gourdie had three, with Gourdie having his team's only other shot on goal.

Goalkeeper Marley Mascarenas had two saves.


CLAUSEN LEADING THE WAY
Sophomore Nicklas Clausen has been the Toreros' most dynamic player on offense thus far in 2021, with 19 shots, 11 shots on goal, 4 goals, and one assist through USD's eight total games.

The Denmark native scored twice in the Toreros' 2-0 win over CSU Bakersfield on Sept. 10, finding the back of the net in the 13th and 77th minutes.
