SAN DIEGO—No. 25 San Diego continues conference play on Thursday night against San Francisco before heading to Santa Clara on Saturday afternoon in another West Coast Conference matchup.
 
The Toreros (8-3, 2-0 WCC) cruised to back-to-back sweeps of Saint Mary's and Pacific to open West Coast Conference play undefeated. San Diego heads on the road to face the Dons (0-11, 0-3 WCC) at 7 p.m. (PT) and continues the Bay Area road trip against the Broncos (4-9, 0-3 WCC) at 1 p.m. (PT) Saturday. 

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST SAN FRANCISCO
•  Saturday will mark the 39th meeting between the two teams. The Toreros are 32-6 in previous meetings and have won the previous 12 meetings. San Diego has swept the last two matchups taking place in San Francisco.
 
•  The two teams previously met in the spring of 2021, a 3-0 and 3-1 victory for the Toreros. 
 
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST SANTA CLARA
• Thursday is the 39th all-time meeting between the Toreros and the Broncos. USD leads the overall series 28-10 and have been victorious in 12 straight dating back to 2014. The last three wins have all come on the road.

• The Toreros are 15-5 against the Gaels on the road all-time.
 

LAST TIME OUT
• San Diego went 2-0 last week against Saint Mary's and Pacific. The Toreros swept both matches and had an average margin of victory of 9.8 in each set. 
 
• Katie Lukes provided the offensive spark last week, putting up 29.5 points on 27 kills and hit .377. She also chipped in defensively with six blocks and 11 digs. 
 
• Grace Frohling and Kylie Pries also helped out on the offensive side. Frohling contributed 18 kills with four service aces to go along with eight total blocks. Pries collected 13 kills on .429 hitting and added two blocks of her own.
 
• Leyla Blackwell and Gabby Goddard have continued to be a revelation on the block, recording 15 total blocks last week, with three of those solos. Blackwell has been heating up on the offensive side as well, recording nine kills on .471 hitting.
 
IN THE RANKINGS
• San Diego dropped four spots to No. 25 in the AVCA Weekly Coaches' Poll for week four (Sep. 19) after appearing at No. 21 last week.
 
• The Toreros have appeared in the national top-25 poll for 24 consecutive seasons, with 22 top-10 appearances. USD's highest ranking was No. 2 overall (Sept. 16, 2013).
 
• USD's highest-ranked victory came on Sept. 13, 2013 against No. 1 USC (3-1) in the Jenny Craig Pavilion. It marks the only time the Toreros have defeated a top-ranked team.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
• The Toreros return home to take on Gonzaga and Portland in WCC play next week. The Bulldogs and Pilots will visit the Jenny Craig Pavilion on October 7 and 9 respectively.
