San Diego Women's Basketball Hosts BYU at Home on Saturday

The Toreros are ready to secure a win at home

SAN DIEGO—The Toreros will host the BYU Cougars at the Jenny Craig Pavilion on Saturday, January 22 at 1 p.m. PT. Coming off a tough loss to Saint Mary's, San Diego is ready to bounce back with a big win at home. On Saturday, we will host Alumni Night where we welcome our Alumni back to campus to honor them during halftime followed by a reception. This game will air on Bally Sports San Diego, Bally Sports SoCal, NBC Sports Bay Area, and Root Sports NW.

THE BREAKDOWN
In their sixteenth game of the 2021-22 regular season, San Diego lost to Saint Mary's 79-71 at the Jenny Craig Pavilion on Thursday, January 22. Three players scored in double-digits leading with Steph Gorman and Kendall Bird with 14 points each followed by Erica Martinsen with 11. Collectively, the Toreros scored 24 points off fast breaks and 23 points off turnovers. On defense, San Diego maintained their intensity to collect 19 steals and 34 rebounds. The Toreros also forced 24 turnovers on Saint Mary's.

The Toreros are 10-6 (2-2 WCC) ahead of Saturday's matchup against BYU 14-1 (4-0 WCC). This is the 66th time the teams will play each other in program history.

San Diego holds a 8-15 all time record against BYU with a two game winning streak. Their last matchup took place on January 4, 2021 and resulted in a 58-56 win under head coach Cindy Fisher.
