Women's Basketball Hosts Portland Pilots on Thursday Night

The Toreros will battle the Pilots on Thursday, January 27 at 5 p.m. PT

SAN DIEGO — The Toreros return home to play the Portland Pilots on Thursday, January 27 at 5 PM in the Jenny Craig Pavilion. Following a tough contest on Monday against BYU, the Toreros are looking for redemption after a 70-48 loss. 

In their eighteenth game of the 2021-22 regular season, the Toreros lost to the BYU Cougars on Monday, January 24 at the Marriott Center in Provo, UT. Leading the Toreros in scoring was Harsimran Kaur with 13 points, followed by Kasey Neubert and Sydney Hunter with eight points each. Kaur set a new career high in scoring and was the only player to score in double-digits. On defense, San Diego maintained their intensity to collect 16 steals and 33 rebounds. The Toreros also forced 22 turnovers on the BYU Cougars. 

The Toreros are 10-8 (2-4 WCC) ahead of Monday's matchup against Portland 12-4 (2-2 WCC). This is the 80th time the teams will match up in program history. 

LOOKING AHEAD
The Toreros will continue their homestand by hosting the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Saturday, January 29 at 2 p.m. PT in the Jenny Craig Pavilion. San Diego holds a 23-49 record against Gonzaga with a one game losing streak. Their last matchup took place on January 15, 2021 and resulted in a 76-66 loss under head coach Cindy Fisher
