SAN DIEGO — The Toreros continue their home stand by hosting the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Saturday, January 29 at 2 p.m. PT in the Jenny Craig Pavilion. Following a difficult contest against Portland, the Toreros are ready to defend home court. 

In their nineneeth game of the 2021-22 regular season, San Diego lost to the Portland Pilots 68-55 on Thursday, January 27 in the Jenny Craig Pavilion. Leading the Toreros' offensive efforts were Kasey Neubert and Sydney Hunter with nine points each. Other key contributors on offense were Kendall Bird with eight points, Erica Martinsen with seven, followed by Jordyn Edwards and Steph Gorman with six points each. On offense, the Toreros tallied 14 assists. 

On defense, San Diego collected 30 rebounds, 14 steals, and two blocks. The Toreros also forced 27 turnovers on the Portland Pilots, five more than their matchup against BYU on January 24, 2022. 

The Toreros are 10-9 (2-5 WCC) ahead of Saturday's matchup against Gonzaga 15-4 (6-0 WCC). This is the 72nd contest in program history. 

LOOKING AHEAD
The Toreros will travel to the Bay Area for three games against three schools in the WCC. The first team the Toreros will play is the San Francisco Dons on Thursday, February 3 at 6 p.m. PT. San Diego holds a 43-32 all time record against the Dons with a five game winning streak. Their last contest took place on January 8, 2022 and resulted in a 65-56 win under head coach Cindy Fisher.
