SAN DIEGO—The Toreros will host the San Francisco Dons on Saturday, January 8 at 2 p.m. PT at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. Following a three-week absence from games, this is the Toreros' first game back. Coming off an impressive 20 point win against Texas State on December 21, the Toreros are eager to begin conference play with a win.

THE BREAKDOWN
In their twelfth game of the 2021-22 season, San Diego defeated Texas State 78-58 at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. The top scorers were Sydney Hunter, Erica Martinsen, and Kasey Neubert. Leading the Toreros in double-digits was Hunter with 18 points, Martinsen had 10, and Neubert finished with nine points. Overall, the Toreros shot 53.8% from the free-throw line, 52.4% from the field, and 27.8% from the three-point line. 

The Toreros played tenaciously on defense with Hunter, Neubert, and Martinsen leading the team in rebounds with four each. In total, San Diego had 31 rebounds. Other notable contributors on defense include Kendall Bird, Kylie Horstmeyer, and Laura Erikstrup with one block each. On the other side of the court, San Diego tallied 12 steals over Texas State. Leading the Toreros in steals were Hunter and Ayanna Khalfani with three each. 

The Toreros are 8-4 (0-0 WCC) ahead of Saturday's match-up against San Francisco 6-7 (0-1 WCC). This is the 74th time the teams will play each other in program history.

San Diego holds an all time record of 42-32 against San Francisco. Their last game took place on December 30 and resulted in a 61-54 win under head coach Cindy Fisher. The Toreros have a four game winning streak.
