MALIBU, Calif. – The San Diego women's soccer program (2-6-3, 0-1 WCC) kept No. 17 Pepperdine (7-1-2, 1-0 WCC) in check for much of the game, but ultimately fell, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at Tari Frahm Rokus Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- For the first 53 minutes of the game, the Toreros defense held the high-powered Waves offense off the board.
- Freshman goalkeeper Sophine Kevorkian made five saves in the scoreless opening frame.
- Her top showing of the game came in the eighth minute, when the Waves drew a penalty kick. Kevorkian made a sprawling save to her left on the attempt from Trinity Watson to keep the game scoreless.
- Pepperdine's Shelby Little finally broke the scoreless tie in the 54th minute with a goal off a corner kick from Watson.
- The Waves tallied additional goals in the 70th minute (Tatum Wynalda) and the 87th minute (Melina Lavadas) to secure the win.
- Kevorkian finished the game with seven saves, facing 31 shots total in the game.
TORERO TIDBITS
- Senior Delaney Jannone led the way for the offense with two shots and one shot on goal.
- Graduate student Adalee Broadbent played another full 90 minutes, bringing her to 1,551 consecutive minutes played.
- Freshman Sydnie Fong made her collegiate debut in the loss, playing 61 minutes.

The Toreros return home to face their second consecutive ranked opponent, hosting No. 18 Portland on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m., for "Club Night" in Torero Stadium. The game will be streamed on the WCC Network.
