SAN DIEGO – Dominating from start to finish, the University of San Diego football team (3-3, 2-1 PFL) defeated Presbyterian (1-6, 0-4 PFL) on homecoming, 28-3.
 
Graduate quarterback 
Judd Erickson completed 26-of-40 passes for 291 yards and three touchdowns.
 
The defense posted another successful performance, allowing just three points and intercepting two passes, including a 29-yard return for a touchdown from safety 
Joshua Hong to open the scoring.
 
Redshirt senior wide receiver 
Michael Carner led the Toreros with five catches for 107 yards and a 37-yard touchdown in the third quarter.
 
USD improves to 3-3 (2-1 PFL) on the season, and will have a bye next week.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
	- Joshua Hong jumped a route midway through the first quarter and returned it for a touchdown, giving USD an early 7-0 lead.
- Early in the second quarter, Erickson found Kline wide open down the middle for a 9-yard touchdown.
- San Diego's defense notched a shutout in the first half, as USD took a 14-0 lead into the locker room.
- After a 90-minute rain delay, Erickson tossed a dart to Carner down the left sideline, who turned up field for the 37-yard touchdown.
- Presbyterian got on the board with 5:11 left in the third quarter with a 32-yard field goal.
- Early in the fourth, Landon Colvin ripped the ball out of the running back's arms, and Garrett Carney recovered the fumble.
- A couple of drives later, Landon Toll blocked a Presbyterian punt to set USD up in opponent territory.
- San Diego capitalized, as Erickson found Jefferson in the back right corner of the end zone for the 28-3 lead.
- With less than a minute remaining, Deshaun Harvey snagged his first career interception to seal the win.
 
TORERO TIDBITS
	- USD is now 3-0 all-time against Presbyterian, outscoring the Blue Hose 121-52.
- Erickson's three touchdowns passes were a career high.
- Head Coach Dale Lindsey is now 78-28 (66-7 PFL) in his USD career.
- Jefferson scored his fourth touchdown of the season. He has 76 receptions for 926 yards and seven touchdowns in 17 career games.
- Colvin forced his first career fumble, while Carney recovered his first.
- San Diego is 80-9 in PFL play since 2011.
- Carner topped 100 receiving yards for the fourth time in his career, and first since October 2, 2021 against St. Thomas.
 
UP NEXT
San Diego has a bye next week before returning to action on Saturday, October 29 at St. Thomas. In the first ever meeting between the teams last season, USD earned a 27-24 win at Torero Stadium. San Diego scored 13 unanswered points in the second half.
