SAN DIEGO – San Diego State (5-6-2, 1-3-1 Pac-12) scored four times in the second half to defeat the University of San Diego men's soccer team (3-4-6, 1-0-1 WCC) on Saturday night, 4-2.
Just 4:10 into the contest,
Alex Churness put USD in front with his third goal of the season.
The Aztecs answered with four goals in a span of 28:40 in the second half.
The loss snaps San Diego's eight match unbeaten streak, which included three wins and five ties.
USD falls to 3-4-6 on the season, and will continue WCC play against Santa Clara next Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Less than five minutes into the game, San Diego took an early 1-0 lead off the foot of Churness.
- Neither team would score over the final 40:50 of the first half, and the Toreros took the lead into halftime.
- After the Aztecs found the equalizer early in the second half, USD answered right back in the 54th minute when a deflected shot found the back of the net to give the Toreros the 2-1 lead.
- At the 55:14 mark, USD was awarded a yellow card. The official then changed it to a red after video review.
- SDSU tied the game once again just over three minutes later, and took the lead in the 68th minute with another goal.
- The home team sealed the win with an 81st minute goal.

- USD held a 12-11 advantage in shots, but the Aztecs had six on goal compared to USD's two.
