Women’s Soccer Welcomes No. 15 Portland for Wednesday Showdown

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's soccer program (2-6-3, 0-1 WCC) returns home to Torero Stadium for more WCC action on Wednesday night, hosting No. 15 Portland (7-0-4, 1-0 WCC) at 7 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Toreros battled at No. 17 Pepperdine, where they held the waves scoreless for the first 53 minutes of the game. However, the Toreros would ultimately fall, 3-0, despite seven saves from freshman goalkeeper Sophine Kevorkian.  
 
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
  • San Diego trails 8-20-2 all-time against the Pilots, in a series that dates all the way back to 1992.   
  • The Toreros are 119-100-8 (.542) all-time in WCC play dating back to 1992.  
  • By playing No. 15 Portland on Wednesday, the Toreros will have now hosted a top-25 team at Torero Stadium for three consecutive seasons. Portland are the third ranked team faced by San Diego this season.
  • 14 of the 26 points (53.8%) tallied by the Toreros this season have come from a freshman. Cameryn Maddox (six) and Josefine Schlichting (four) have been the leaders for the Toreros.
  • Another tie for Kevorkian in net would give her three and match Brittany Cameron (2007) for the second most ties in a single season in Toreros history.

  • Kevorkian currently ranks second in the West Coast Conference in in total saves (49) and in saves per game (4.45), while ranking third in total minutes played (932:33). Between Kevorkian and Ellyn Casto, the Toreros lead the WCC in team saves per game (5.18).
  • Maddox currently ranks in a tie for seventh in points among freshman in the WCC with six.
  • Dating back to her time at Maryland, graduate student Adalee Broadbent has played in 1,551 consecutive minutes, including every minute of this season.
