SAN DIEGO - The University of San Diego men's soccer team (8-4-6) drew #9 Denver (13-2-5) during the NCAA Selection Show on Monday. The teams will compete in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, November 17 at 1:00 PM PT, with the winner moving on to face #7 seed Duke on Sunday.Â
After being selected to finish seventh in the WCC Preseason Poll, USD won its first WCC Championship since 2015, and secured its first NCAA appearance since 2014 after a 1-0 win at San Francisco in the regular season finale.
USD finishes undefeated in WCC play for just the second time in program history (first since 2000). San Diego has lost just once in its last 14 matches (8-1-5), and outscored opponents 17-4 in WCC play. The Toreros will play in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2014. USD defeated Cal State Fullerton in double overtime, 2-1, before falling to #2 UCLA, 2-1 in overtime.
