SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's soccer program (2-11-5, 0-6-2 WCC) dropped a 6-0 decision to No. 15 BYU (9-2-6, 5-0-3 WCC) in the 2022 home finale on Wednesday night at Torero Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Toreros and Cougars opened the game with a flurry of shots, but the Cougars were the first to strike.
- BYU would score five times in the first half, as the Cougars led in total shots 21-4 through the first 45 minutes.
- Despite the shot disparity, the four shots proved to be quality looks, as a blast from Cameryn Maddox in the 16th minute was a headliner but was stopped by the Cougars goalkeeper.
- Later in the contest, Talei Moodie nearly had her first collegiate goal, breaking past the Cougars defense and scoring, but only after the offside flag was raised.
- The Toreros and Cougars played a much tighter second half, with the Cougars leading 20-9 in second half shots.
