SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's soccer program (2-11-5, 0-6-2 WCC) will wrap up the 2022 season on Saturday at 7 p.m., when they travel to face Pacific (6-3-10, 1-3-4 WCC) at Knoles Field in Stockton, Calif.
LAST TIME OUT
The Toreros dropped a 6-0 decision to No. 15 BYU on Wednesday night at Torero Stadium. The Cougars were able to build an early lead and never look back, despite some promising chances for the Toreros.
Sophine Kevorkian made four saves in the first half, while
Ellyn Casto added another nine saves in the second half.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
- San Diego has found plenty of success against Pacific in the all-time series, holding a 13-1-2 all-time record against the Tigers. However, the last two meetings have been a pair of hard-fought, 0-0, double overtime draws.
- The Toreros are 119-105-10 (.530) all-time in WCC play dating back to 1992.
- San Diego is seeking its first season finale victory since 2019, when they beat Portland, 1-0.
- 21 of the 37 points (56.8%) tallied by the Toreros this season have come from a freshman. Cameryn Maddox (eight), Josefine Schlichting (four) and Leila Kahoano (four) are the leaders for the Toreros.
- Kevorkian has a chance to etch her name in the single season record books at San Diego. She currently sits in a tie for sixth place on the single season saves list with Michelle Craft (2013) with 90 saves.
- She would need six saves to set a new all-time single season record, passing the current holder Amber Michel (95 in 2017).
TORERO TIDBITS
- Kevorkian currently ranks second in the West Coast Conference in total saves (90) and saves per game (5.00), while ranking third in total minutes played (1508:54). Kevorkian also ranks in the top-40 nationally in total saves.
- Between Kevorkian and Casto, the Toreros lead the WCC in team saves per game (6.00) and rank 30th in the NCAA.
- The next tie by Kevorkian in net would set a new single season record by a goalkeeper at San Diego with five, passing Libby Bassett in 2003.
- Maddox currently ranks seventh in points among freshman in the WCC with eight. Maddox has the most points by a Torero freshman since Michaela Dooley's 13 in 2013.
- Dating back to her time at Maryland, graduate student Adalee Broadbent has played in 2,181 consecutive minutes, including every minute of this season. Broadbent has a chance to become one of a select few around the NCAA to play every minute of every game this season.
