Women's Basketball Travels to Santa Clara for Saturday Contest

The Toreros battle the Broncos at 2 p.m.

SANTA CLARA — The Toreros will travel to Santa Clara to battle the Broncos on Saturday, February 5 at 2 p.m. PT at the Leavey Center. Following a tough contest against San Francisco on Thursday, the Toreros are looking for redemption after a 61-48 loss. 

In their twenty-first game of the 2021-22 regular season, the Toreros lost to the San Francisco Dons on Thursday, February 3 at War Memorial Gym. Leading the Toreros in scoring was Jordyn Edwards and Sydney Hunter with 12 points. Other key contributors on offense were Sydney Hunter and Kendall Bird with six points each. On offense, the Toreros tallied 10 assists. On defense, San Diego collected 36 rebounds, 12 steals, and two blocks. The Toreros also forced 21 turnovers on the Dons.

The Toreros are 10-11 (2-7 WCC) ahead of Saturday's matchup against Santa Clara 10-9 (4-5 WCC). This is the 79th time the teams will match up in program history. 

LOOKING AHEAD
The Toreros will conclude their road trip in the Bay Area at Stockton, CA to play Pacific on Monday, February 7 at 5 p.m. PT. San Diego holds a 18-11 record against the Tigers with a two game losing streak.  Their last contest took place on February 22, 2021 and resulted in a 67-65 loss under head coach Cindy Fisher.
