STOCKTON — The Toreros will travel to Stockton, CA to battle the Tigers on Monday, February 7 at 5 p.m. PT at the Alex G. Spanos Center. Following a tough contest on Saturday against Santa Clara, the Toreros are looking for redemption after a 89-84 loss.
In their twenty-second game of the 2021-22 regular season, the Toreros lost to the Santa Clara Broncos on Saturday, February 5 at the Leavey Center. Leading the Toreros in scoring was Steph Gorman with 17 points followed by Sydney Hunter with 15 points. Other key contributors on offense were Kiera Oakry with eight points followed by
Ayanna Khalfani,
Erica Martinsen,
Kasey Neubert and
Kylie Horstmeyer with six points each. On offense, the Toreros tallied 18 assists.
On defense, San Diego collected 31 rebounds, 15 steals, and four blocks. The Toreros also forced 20 turnovers on the Broncos. Kylie Horstmeyer set a career high in steals with five total against Santa Clara.
The Toreros are 10-12 (2-8 WCC) ahead of Monday's matchup against Pacific 5-15 (2-7 WCC). This is the 30th time the teams will match up in program history.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Toreros will return to San Diego to host LMU on Thursday, February 10 at 6 p.m. PT at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. San Diego holds a 50-31 record with a five game winning streak. Their last contest took place on January 13, 2022 at LMU and resulted in a 80-48 win under head coach Cindy Fisher.
