SAN DIEGO – The University of San Diego men's tennis team won its fifth straight match over a ranked opponent, defeating #59 Wisconsin on Thursday, 6-1.
 
USD captured the doubles point with 6-4 wins at No. 1 (August Holmgren/Gui Osorio) and No. 3 (Will Davies/Sacchitt Sharrma).
 
In singles play, USD got victories from Osorio at No. 2, Holmgren at No. 1, Sharrma at No. 3, Will Davies at No. 5, and David Norfeldt at No. 4.
 
"The score was not reflective of the overall competitiveness in this match," said head coach Ryan Keckley. "Wisconsin is a very well-coached team, and we knew today would be very challenging. I was proud of how we handled the doubles point as this point has been critical for this group all season long."
 
"In singles, we are starting to hit our stride in a few positions and that showed today. August, Gui and Will Davies led the way in convincing fashion for this squad. With more matches being played these last few weeks, we are starting to gain more confidence in our day-to-day play."
 
USD improves to 11-2 on the season, including 10-1 at home.
