SAN DIEGO – The University of San Diego men's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 win over FAU on Wednesday, 7-0.
 
USD earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 (August Holmgren/Gui Osorio) and No. 3 (Marvin Schaber/David Norfeldt), then won all six singles matches.
 
"I was pleased with our overall performance today," said head coach Ryan Keckley. "We knew our match would be tough for a multitude of reasons. FAU is a well-coached, scrappy team that fights tooth and nail. It can also be a challenge to emotionally get up for every single match, especially when you have played the schedule we have this past week. I thought we did a really good job coming out of the gates fast on court 1 and court 3 in doubles. We captured the momentum and ran with it. In singles, Gui Osorio and David Norfeldt used their experience to their advantage and played some inspired tennis which helped us get out to a 3-0 lead in singles. Freshman Iiro Vasa clinched the final spot. Each time we step on the court we are getting better individually and that's really what this season has been about for this team. I'm excited to see what the next few days has in store for this program as we play host to three very talented teams in the San Diego Shakedown."
 
USD improves to 8-2 on the season.
