SAN FRANCISCO — The Toreros (17-8, 6-2 WCC) led as late as the seventh inning on Saturday afternoon but couldn't hold on for their ninth straight win, dropping a 6-5 decision to San Francisco (15-15, 4-4 WCC) at Benedetti Diamond as they continued West Coast Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED

- Teijeiro scored again in the top of the third, coming around on an RBI single to right field from junior catcher Caleb Ricketts that doubled the San Diego advantage.
- Junior shortstop Cody Jefferis sent a sacrifice fly to center field to score Sim before true freshman infielder Justin DeCrisico brought in Ricketts with an infield single to second base, and by the end of the frame USD led by a 5-0 margin.
- San Francisco fought back with three solo home runs and a pair of RBI singles late in the game, plating runs in the third, fifth, seventh, and eighth innings to secure the 6-5 win and even the series at one game apiece.
