FULLERTON, Calif. — San Diego baseball (25-14, 11-7 WCC) led for five innings but could not hang on to complete the season sweep of Cal State Fullerton (16-22, 9-6 Big West) on Tuesday night, dropping a tough 8-7 decision to the Titans at Goodwin Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED

- Sophomore utility player Jack Costello capped the frame with a two-RBI single through the left side that plated sophomore infielders Kevin Sim (Torrey Pines High School) and Chase Meidroth to give San Diego an early 5-0 advantage.
- Cal State Fullerton answered back with three runs in the bottom of the inning via a sacrifice fly and a two-RBI double, but Allen provided a counterpunch in the top of the third with a two-RBI double of his own, bringing in Vasquez and Jefferis to extend the USD lead to 7-3.
- The Titans proceeded to score four unanswered runs to tie the contest, doing so with two in the bottom of the fifth and two in the bottom of the seventh before scoring the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI infield single to first base.
