OJAI, CA – The No. 19 University of San Diego men's tennis team won a thriller over No. 22 Pepperdine for its seventh consecutive WCC Tournament Championship, 4-3.
 
USD captured yet another doubles point, starting with a win at No. 2 (Sacchitt Sharrma and Will Davies). After Pepperdine won at No. 3, San Diego clinched the point with a 6-4 victory at No. 1 (August Holmgren and Gui Osorio)
 
Singles play was back-and-forth, with five out of six matches going to a third set. Pepperdine captured the first two points at No. 6 and No. 3. San Diego tied the match at 2-2 with a win from David Norfeldt at No. 5, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
 
Holmgren battled back from losing the first set to win 3-6, 7-6, 6-3, and Pepperdine edged the Toreros at No. 4 to knot the match at 3-3.
 
Osorio clinched the championship for San Diego, earning a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 win at No. 2.

"That was one of the best college tennis matches I've ever been a part of," said head coach Ryan Keckley. "The fighting spirit from both teams was evident throughout the four-hour battle. The momentum shifts and back and forth competitiveness throughout the duration of this match was fun to witness. Pepperdine is one heck of a team with a lot of fight. It took everyone to get the job done today against them. I'm so proud of our seniors for stepping up in the big moments. What a memory these guys will have forever."
 
San Diego improves its record to 22-3 on the season. The Toreros finished 9-0 in WCC play, including the Regular Season Championship and Tournament Championship. USD has also defeated 10 ranked opponents leading up to the NCAA Tournament.
