SAN DIEGO — San Diego volleyball completed its coaching staff this week with the hiring of volunteer assistant coach
Brett Alderman, head coach
Jennifer Petrie announced on Friday morning.
Alderman joins the Toreros from nearby UC San Diego, where he served as the Triton men's volunteer assistant from 2021-2022. For the last 13 years he has also coached at Coast Volleyball Club on both the boys and girls sides.
The Australia native brings a wealth of both international and domestic volleyball experience to Alcala Park, having spent considerable time with the Australian National Team (1995-2011) as both a player and a coach in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, the 2002 and 2006 World Championships, and seven Asian Championships.
His professional playing career took him to Europe from 2002-2009, and included stops in Italy, France, and Turkey.
San Diego, which won 20 games in 2021 and reached the NCAA Tournament for the 12th straight year as the 25th postseason appearance in USD volleyball history, is set to begin its 2022 campaign on August 26 against Pitt as part of the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station.
The Toreros' first home game of 2022 is slated for September 9 in the Jenny Craig Pavilion, where USD will host SMU.
