SAN DIEGO — San Diego Football (0-0, 0-0 PFL) hosts La Verne (0-0, 0-0 SCIAC) for the 2022 season opener Saturday. The Toreros were selected to finish second in the PFL Preseason Poll, while sophomore wide receiver Vance Jefferson, junior offensive lineman Finley Lecky, redshirt junior defensive tackle Will Buck, graduate defensive lineman Muhindo Kapapa, redshirt senior linebacker David Ambagtsheer, and senior cornerback Amir Wallace were named to the Preseason All-PFL Team.

After starting last season 0-4 (including losses to #12 UC Davis and #13 Montana State), San Diego won seven straight contests to capture its PFL-record tying 12th title. The seven straight wins is the longest streak in all of Division I college football, trailing only FBS Louisiana (13).

The contest is set to begin at 6 p.m. PT and will be streamed live on WCCsports.com with the Voice of the Toreros Jack Cronin. Live statistics will be available on USDToreros.com. This will be the first football game under the lights at Torero Stadium since 2016 (27-0 win over Western New Mexico).
