Men’s Soccer Ends in Scoreless Draw at UC San Diego

SAN DIEGO – Despite holding a 12-4 advantage in shots on goal, the University of San Diego men's soccer team played UC San Diego to a scoreless draw on Friday night.
 
Mason Tunbridge sent three shots on goal, while Nicklas Clausen, Josh Martinez, and Alex Churness each added two.
 
Goalkeeper Jason Dubrovich earned his second shutout of the season, ending with four saves.
 
USD moves to 1-3-3 on the season, and will host Cal State Fullerton on Sunday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After earning his first start of the season, Churness registered two shots on goal through the first 26 minutes.
  • UC San Diego dashed forward in transition in the 33rd minute, but Dubrovich came up with back-to-back saves to keep it scoreless.
  • Clausen raced forward for an opportunity in the 64th minute, but the UCSD keeper left his box to make the save.  
  • Rhys Gourdie and Tunbridge added shots on goal over the final seven minutes, but both were stopped.

  • Dubrovich has 20 saves on the season and lowered his goals against average to 1.14.
