RIVERSIDE, CA – Despite holding an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal, the University of San Diego men's soccer team fell at Cal Baptist on Monday night, 2-0.
After the teams went into halftime scoreless, the Lancers notched goals in the 50
th and 60
th minutes.
USD drops to 0-3-1 on the season, and will travel to UC Davis on Thursday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lancers sent a dangerous cross towards the six with 10 minutes to play in the first half, but Trevor Dillon dove to send it out of bounds.
- In the 39th minute, Braulio Davila sent a quick shot just inside the right post from 18 yards out, but the goalkeeper dove to make the save.
- Cal Baptist got on the board first in the 50th minute, dribbling down the left side and finishing far post.
- CBU extended its lead to 2-0 in the 60th minute, deflecting a cross into the right side.
- Mason Tunbridge nearly cut the deficit in half, but his left-footed bending shot went just wide with just over 10 minutes to play.
- Oshea Foster provided a spark with two shots on goal in the final 21 minutes, but both were saved.
