Men’s Soccer Plays UC Davis to Scoreless Draw

DAVIS, CA – On a scorching 105-degree day, the University of San Diego men's soccer team played UC Davis to a scoreless draw.
 
Senior goalkeeper Jason Dubrovich earned his first clean sheet of the season, making a key diving save with three minutes remaining.
 
USD moves to 0-3-2 on the season, and will travel to UC Riverside on Sunday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the 18th minute, Samy Kanaan sent a dangerous ball across the six, but Nicklas Clausen was just a step late.
  • Rhys Gourdie sent a bending cross to Alex Churness in the 27th minute, but his shot hit the side of the net.
  • USD held a 5-1 advantage in shots at halftime, but the teams went into the locker rooms scoreless.
  • With just over five minutes to play, UC Davis headed a ball just over the crossbar. Two minutes later, Dubrovich made a diving save on a free kick to keep it scoreless.
