SAN DIEGO – In its first WCC match of the season, the University of San Diego men's tennis team dominated San Francisco, 4-0. The Toreros won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 (Iiro Vasa/Sacchitt Sharrma) and No. 2 (Lambert Ruland/Oliver Tarvet).
 
In singles play, the freshman Tarvet made quick work at No. 4, winning 6-0, 6-0. Sharrma won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, and Vasa clinched the match at No. 3 with a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
 
"It was great to see this team make a statement in our first WCC home match," said head coach Ryan Keckley. "We came out with great energy and a clear purpose of what our goals were and executed well. Our doubles play is starting to really take shape the more we compete. In singles, we accelerated first and never took our foot off the gas. This January has been about building confidence and staying healthy, and we have done just that. I think the entire team is looking forward to hitting the road this week to take on a top-10 team in FSU at Baylor!"
