SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's soccer program (1-10-2, 0-2-1 WCC) heads out on the road for a matchup with Portland (8-2-2, 2-1-0 WCC) on Saturday at 4:30 p.m., at Merlo Field.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Toreros kept the game even for 89 minutes, but were unable to hang on, falling 1-0 to Pacific on Oct. 7 at Torero Stadium.
- The Toreros matched the Tigers with 12 shots apiece and Sophine Kevorkian made five saves in net.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
- San Diego is aiming to snap a three-game skid against the Pilots and showed tremendous grit in last season's matchup, falling 2-0 to then No. 15 Portland in San Diego.
- San Diego's offense is slowly rounding into form, with goals in three of the last five games.
- The newcomers have inserted themselves into the offense, with Lexi Zandonella-Arasa as the leading goal scorer and three new players ranking in the top-five on the team in shots (Olivia Stone, Zandonella-Arasa and Mikayla Abrenica).
- The defense is also finding its form, allowing three of their four lowest output of shots against in the last five games.
- Much is spurred by the return of Kylie Perez from injury at the center back position, alongside her fellow freshman Kamryn Simpson.

- Kevorkian (169) currently sits in eighth on San Diego's all-time saves list. Next up is Libby Bassett (177) in seventh.
- Kevorkian (31) now stands alone for ninth on San Diego's all-time charts in career starts at goalkeeper. Next up is Karen Cook (39) in eighth.
- Kevorkian leads the WCC and ranks 23rd in the nation in saves per game (5.62) and 27th in total saves (73).
- The trip to Portland is the last trip outside the state of California this season.
