Toreros Secure 0-0 Draw Against LMU

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego men's soccer program (8-4-3, 2-1-1 WCC) found a number of chances but salvaged a 0-0 draw against LMU (6-2-6, 1-1-2 WCC) on Wednesday night at Torero Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both sides got off to deliberate starts, with each side picking their moments and prioritizing possession.
  • However, it was LMU who got the first chance of the game in the 24th minute, as Steven Anderson got a free run at goal, but Luis Ludosan made a sliding save to preserve the tie.
  • After going into the half at 0-0, the Toreros started the second half with increased energy.
  • A cross from Owen Walz found the head of Christian Vigil in the 47th minute, as Vigil laced it towards goal, forcing the LMU goalkeeper to tip the ball up and off the crossbar to keep the game level.
  • San Diego had another tremendous chance in the 54th minute, as a beautiful flick on by Vicente Ayala found Cesar Bahena in tight, but the LMU goalkeeper made a sliding save.
  • Chances continued for the Toreros throughout the second half, as Mason Tunbridge had a near post shot stopped in the 71st minute.
  • In the final 10 minutes, Oliver Rhoades and Simon Duus Muller each had chances in the box stopped, which ultimately sealed a draw.
 
TORERO TIDBITS
  • Ludosan notched his fourth shutout of the season and the 10th of his career.
  • San Diego now has four shutouts in their last eight WCC games dating back to last season.
 
NEXT UP
The Toreros is back in action on Saturday, traveling to first-place Santa Clara for a key battle atop the WCC. The game will start at 7 p.m., and be streamed via ESPN Plus.
