SAN DIEGO – The San Diego men's cross country team is set to open the postseason, traveling to Malibu, Calif., for the WCC Championship, hosted on Saturday, Oct. 28., at 11 a.m., at Alumni Park.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
- San Diego is led by Russell Gokemeijer, who has led all Toreros in all four races this season.
- Gokemeijer has two top-25 finishes this season and earned his first WCC Runner of the Week honors on Oct. 10.
- Last year the Toreros competed in the WCC Championships on a rainy day in Portland Ore., at Fernhill Park, where they finished ninth.
- Three Toreros set several personal bests at the time at last year's championships. Gokemeijer recorded a time of 25:20.4, while Will Stefanou ran a time of 25:22.4, and Sean O'Keefe raced to a time of 25:27.7.
