SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's soccer program (1-14-2, 0-6-1 WCC) fell in their 2023 home finale, falling 7-0 to Pepperdine (8-3-5, 5-1-0 WCC) on Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Toreros and Waves traded blows through the first 20 minutes, as the defense held strong while Sophine Kevorkian made three saves.
- The Waves drew a penalty kick opportunity in the 29th minute, but Kevorkian stopped the attempt and a follow up to keep the game level.
- Pepperdine would ultimately build a 2-0 lead at halftime behind a pair of goals shortly after the penalty kick stop.
- Pepperdine extended their lead further in the first 20 minutes of the second half to 4-0.
- San Diego nearly got a goal back in the 66th minute, as Lexi Zandonella-Arasa laced a shot that rang off the crossbar, but could not pot the rebound.
- Chances were limited for the remainder of the game, as Pepperdine tacked on a few more goals to reach their final total.
TORERO TIDBITS
- Kevorkian (188) moved into sole possession of seventh on the Toreros all-time save list, passing Libby Bassett (177). Next up is Courtney Parsons (229) in sixth.
- Kevorkian finished the game with 13 saves.
