SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's soccer program (1-14-2, 0-6-1 WCC) is set to wrap up the 2023 season on Wednesday night, traveling to face No. 23 Santa Clara (11-4-2, 4-2-0 WCC) at 7 p.m., at Stevens Stadium.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Toreros turned in a strong opening 20 minutes, but were unable to hang on, falling to WCC-leading Pepperdine on Friday night at Torero Stadium.
- Lexi Zandonella-Arasa nearly added to her team-leading goal total, ringing a shot off the crossbar in the second half.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
- San Diego's offense is slowly rounding into form, with five goals in the last nine games.
- The Toreros are averaging 8.8 shots per game over their last five games and recently tallied their first two-goal game of the season, where they finished with 12 shots.
- The newcomers have inserted themselves into the offense, with Zandonella-Arasa as the leading goal scorer and her and Olivia Stone ranking in the top-five on the team in shots.
- Since her return from injury, Kylie Perez has resumed high level play the center back position, continuously playing full 90-minute games and anchoring the back line as she pursues All-WCC Freshman Team honors.
