Toreros Host Portland State in Saturday Afternoon Clash

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's basketball program (1-0, 0-0 WCC) continue their season-opening homestand on Saturday afternoon, hosting Portland State (1-0, 0-0 Big Sky) at 2 p.m., in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Toreros maintained total control from start to finish, cruising to a 92-38 win over Chapman on opening night.
  • Kasey Neubert recorded a double-double, while Kylie Horstmeyer led all scorers with 14 points.
  • The Toreros tallied their most points in a game since registering 95 in a win over San Diego Christian on Dec. 11, 2020.
  • San Diego tallied 37 made field goals, which matches the seventh highest total in a game in program history and was the most since 2016.
 
OPPONENT HISTORY
  • San Diego leads Portland State 4-1 in the all-time series and hosts the Vikings after traveling to Portland last season.

  • Neubert is already off to a hot start, tallying the seventh double-double of her career in the win over Chapman.
  • Also returning is Veronica Sheffey, who was named to the All-WCC Freshman Team last year and will play a key role this season.
