SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's basketball program (2-0, 0-0 WCC) heads out on the road for the first time this season, traveling to Arizona (3-0, 0-0 PAC-12) in a matchup of undefeated teams on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Toreros offense and defense continued to shine, as they downed Portland State, 71-43 on Saturday afternoon at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
- Once again, the Toreros got huge production from Kylie Horstmeyer and Kasey Neubert, as Horstmeyer tallied a career-high 18 points, while Kasey Neubert continued to crash the boards and recorded her second straight double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
- The Toreros shot over 52.5 percent or higher again and now have it in back-to-back games to open the season. The team had only reached that threshold twice in the previous four seasons combined.
OPPONENT HISTORY
- San Diego trails Arizona 11-3 in the all-time series and the Toreros will play the Wildcats for the second straight season, after hosting them at last season's Dana on Mission Bay Thanksgiving Classic.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
- All facets of the game have been strong for the Toreros, who are finding their shot early in the season, while playing stifling defense.
- Neubert is already off to a hot start, tallying back-to-back double-doubles in both season-opening wins.
- Harsimran Kaur is off to a very efficient start from the field, scoring in double figures in both games and leading the WCC in field goal percentage at 71.4 percent.
- On defense, the Toreros are allowing just 40.5 points per game which ranks in the top-10 nationally.
- The Toreros are holding opponents to just 23 percent from the field which is fifth nationally.
- San Diego was picked to finish fifth in the WCC Preseason Poll this season.
- The Toreros feature five newcomers, as transfers Dylan Horton (Florida A&M) and Maddie Vejsicky (Virginia Tech) join the three incoming freshmen Lauren McCall, Malia Tharpe and Mila Wawszkowicz.
