Women’s Basketball Hosts The Dana on Mission Bay Thanksgiving Tournament

SAN DIEGO – Fresh off the Thanksgiving holiday, the San Diego women's basketball program (2-2, 0-0 WCC) welcomes three programs to the Jenny Craig Pavilion for The Dana on Mission Bay Thanksgiving Tournament, from Nov. 24-25.

San Diego hosts UC Santa Barbara (2-1, 0-0 Big West), UNLV (4-0, 0-0 MWC) and Weber State (0-4, 0-0 Big Sky) for four games over two days.

FULL SCHEDULE

San Diego vs. Weber State – Friday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m.
UNLV vs. UC Santa Barbara – Friday, Nov. 24 at 4 p.m.
Losers of Friday's games – Saturday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m.
Winners of Friday's games – Saturday, Nov. 25 at 4 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT

The Toreros struggled to gain their footing on the offensive end and ultimately fell, 62-51, to Princeton on Sunday afternoon.
Despite a late rally, the Toreros offense got into an early hole and were unable to make a sustained run until the final two minutes of the game.
Once again, Kasey Neubert led the way for the Toreros, registering 12 points.
Harsimran Kaur and Veronica Sheffey also filled the stat sheet, with a career high in steals for Sheffey and blocks for Kaur.

OPPONENT HISTORY

San Diego is 4-1 all-time against Weber State and has won the last four meetings.
The Toreros are seeking their first ever win against UNLV.
San Diego is 9-14 all-time against UC Santa Barbara as they seek their third consecutive win.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

Through four games, the Toreros are the nation's leader in three-point field goal defense, limiting opponents to just 14.8 percent from beyond the arc.
The Toreros rank second in the WCC in overall field goal defense at 34.3 percent.
Sheffey leads the WCC in steals per game at 2.75, following a big defensive showing against Princeton.
Kaur ranks 31st in the nation and second in the WCC in blocks per game (2.25).
San Diego was picked to finish fifth in the WCC Preseason Poll this season.
The Toreros feature five newcomers, as transfers Dylan Horton (Florida A&M) and Maddie Vejsicky (Virginia Tech) join the three incoming freshmen Lauren McCall, Malia Tharpe and Mila Wawszkowicz.

Head coach Cindy Fisher is closing in on 400 wins in her career, standing at 391 between San Diego and Wyoming.
Neubert leads the WCC in rebounds per game (9.2).
