Lambert Ruland).
In singles play,
Nikhil Niranjan captured an impressive 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6. Freshman
Neo Niedner was close behind with a 6-1, 6-1 margin at No. 5. Freshman
Oliver Tarvet wrapped up the win with a 6-2, 6-2 win on court one.
"It was great to be back at home after our two-week road stretch," said head coach
Ryan Keckley. "The boys were ready for this Pacific team as they knew it would be challenging affair after last year's 4-3 battle. We've had some match points to secure the doubles point and haven't capitalized on them in recent matches, so I was pleased to see us have a sense of urgency during the doubles point. In singles, we jumped on them early and took advantage of playing at home. Congrats to
Nikhil Niranjan who got us on the board early with a 6-0, 6-0 win. Awesome to see him step up and put the team on his shoulders when called up to the plate. Tomorrow will be another tough test for this team as Santa Clara has a very solid squad. We will be prepared as Santa Clara always brings the noise."
