LAST TIME OUT

A remarkable comeback by USD fell just short last Thursday, falling to No. 17 Saint Mary's, 62-59. The Toreros trailed by 23 with 11:55 remaining, and outscored the Gaels 24-4 the rest of the way. Saint Mary's was held off the board over the final 7:05. Graduate center Nic Lynch led USD with a season-high 17 points, shooting 6-of-9 from the floor including two triples. Freshman guard Neel Beniwal scored in double figures for the first time in his career, adding 11 points. His potential game-tying three-pointer with time expiring was just off the mark from beyond half court.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS

Gonzaga has clinched one of the top two seeds and earn triple byes to the semifinals in the WCC Tournament on March 6. Senior forward Drew Timme leads the WCC with 21.3 points per game and is 80 points away from Gonzaga's all-time points record, ranking second with 2,117 and eighth with 822 rebounds. Junior guard Julian Strawther is adding 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest. Senior guard Rasir Bolton (11.1) and senior forward Anton Watson (11.1) also average double figures. The Bulldogs rank first in the NCAA for field goal percentage (52.5) and scoring offense (87.5 PPG).
