- However, the Golden Bears were able to put the game away and finish off a five-inning victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED – SAN DIEGO 5, CAL POLY 6 (NINE INNINGS)
- Game two quickly established itself as a pitching duel, as Courtney Rose went toe-to-toe with Cal Poly starter Sophia Ramuno.
- After Rose stifled a bases-loaded situation in the third inning, the Toreros made Cal Poly pay in the fourth inning.
- Mikalyn Emanuelli reached on an error and advanced all the way to third base on a passed ball. Tovar would come through with another big hit, lacing a single up the middle to give San Diego a 1-0 lead.
- Rose continued to keep the Mustangs at bay for the entire night, making it through her first six of eight innings unscathed.
- In the seventh inning, the Mustangs got a runner on second base via a double and were down to their final out, when a Torero error allowed them to tie the game and force extra innings.
- Taylor Johnson immediately responded once the Toreros loaded the bases in the eighth with an RBI single, that scored one, but another runner was thrown out at the plate to leave the score at 2-1.
- Cal Poly would answer again with an RBI single with two outs to send the game into the ninth inning.
- EJ Joyner attempted to put the game out of reach, crushing an 0-2 mistake in the zone by Ramuno over the left field fence for a three-run home run to make it 5-2.
- Getting two outs early, the Toreros were unable to hang on, as Cal Poly took advantage of several Torero errors, before an RBI single gave them a 6-5 win.
