SAN DIEGO – After dropping the doubles point, the No. 37 University of San Diego men's tennis team bounced back with four straight singles wins to defeat No. 36 Oklahoma on Monday, 4-1.
 
The Sooners earned doubles wins at No. 1, 6-2, and No. 3 by a score of 6-3.
 
Freshman Oliver Tarvet improved to 10-2 in dual match singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2.
 
After falling behind 4-0 in the first set, redshirt junior Sacchitt Sharrma won 12 of the next 13 games to win at No. 4, 6-4, 6-1.
 
Freshman Neo Niedner earned USD's third point with a 7-5, 6-2 margin at No. 6, and redshirt freshman Stian Klaassen clinched the overall victory at No. 3, 6-4, 6-3.
 
"Great win for this program this afternoon," said head coach Ryan Keckley. "Oklahoma is an established team who has a lot of experience winning at a high level. They came at us with a ton of energy during the first hour and a half of the match, and we stayed focused and stayed the course. Our boys did a great job staying committed to their game plans and showing true resilience after losing the doubles point. Each one of our boys has built up the confidence necessary to believe they should win these coin toss matchups over the course of the last few months. I'm excited to see what the rest of the week has in store for this team."
 
San Diego improves to 10-4, and has won seven of its last eight matches.
