#34 Men’s Tennis Edged by #51 Princeton, 4-3

SAN DIEGO – Coming down to a third set at No. 3, the No. 34 University of San Diego men's tennis team fell to No. 51 Princeton on Friday, 4-3.
 
The Toreros earned the doubles point with a 6-2 win at No. 1 (Iiro Vasa/Sacchitt Sharrma) and a 6-4 victory at No. 3 (Marvin Schaber/Lambert Ruland).
 
Sophomore Iiro Vasa quickly secured USD's second point with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. Redshirt junior Marvin Schaber followed that up with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 5.
 
Princeton answered with three singles wins to tie the match at 3-3. Then at No. 3 singles, the Tigers clinched with a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 margin.
 
"Congrats to Princeton," said head coach Ryan Keckley. "They took the match from us in the big moments. We didn't play in line with what the standards are for this program across the board and it showed in our competitiveness today. This is a loss we will grow from and make immediate adjustments for tomorrows match."
 
San Diego falls to 10-5, and will face the loser of #25 Memphis/#70 Utah tomorrow at 2:00 PM.
