SAN DIEGO – The San Diego track & field program is set for the first event of their 2023 regular season on Saturday, traveling across town for the Ross & Sharon Invite, hosted by Point Loma Nazarene.
Â
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
- Saturday's matchup is the first of two straight meets at Point Loma to open the season.
- It's also the first of three meets in the city of San Diego to start the season, with a trip to UC San Diego coming in April.
- Several women are slated to compete this weekend for the Toreros.
- Grace Beal, Daniella De La Torre Garcia, Zoey Delgado, Maggie Duba, Nathalie Green, Sofia Green, Macey Holt, Daniella Hubble, Aryam Jaimes, Isabelle Jarosek, Mia Marsh, Lexi Neuville, Gianna Sbarbaro, Nicole Sevcikova and Stella Smith are expected to compete this Saturday.
- At last season's Ross & Sharon Invite, Hubble turned in a top-10 finish in the 5000m and turned around the next week to finish sixth in the 1500m, also at Point Loma. Hubble will look to replicate that success.
- On the men's side, Jake Coleman, Ian Converse, Carson Ertwine, Russell Gokemeijer, Sean O'Keefe, Hudson Rowan, Will Stefanou are all set to get their first crack at the 5000m this season.
- Converse has also found success at Point Loma, taking home a fourth-place finish in the 1500m last season.
