SAN DIEGO – After the match was suspended due to rain on Tuesday, the No. 39 University of San Diego women's tennis team fell to No. 16 Washington on Wednesday, 4-2.
The team played singles first due to impending weather, and junior
Kailey Evans secured the first point with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5.
The Huskies answered with a win on court one, but sophomore
Claudia De Las Heras put USD on top again with a comeback 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2.
Washington took a 3-2 overall lead after winning at No. 4 and No. 6. On court three, play was suspended due to rain with the Huskies leading 6-3, 6-7, 5-2. Resuming play on Wednesday at noon, Astrid Olsen quickly clinched the win.
San Diego drops to 4-6 on the season, and will host LMU tomorrow for the WCC opener.
