SAN DIEGO – In the first WCC match of the season, the No. 39 University of San Diego women's tennis team defeated No. 52 LMU, 5-2.
 
The Lions earned the doubles point with wins at No. 3 and No. 1, but USD answered with five straight singles wins.
 
Kailey Evans made quick work at No. 5 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Jordyn McBride followed with a 6-2, 6-3 margin at No. 6.
 
At No. 4, Abigail Desiatnikov earned a comeback 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 win, while Claudia De Las Heras edged LMU 7-5, 7-6 at No. 3.
 
Elizabeth Goldsmith earned USD's fifth-straight win in three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
 
San Diego improves to 5-6 (1-0 WCC) on the season, and will host Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon.
