SAN DIEGO — Ten-year-old
Kayla LeMoine has been added to the San Diego volleyball roster, head coach
Jennifer Petrie announced on Friday.
A San Diego, Calif. native, Kayla joins the Toreros through Team IMPACT, a national nonprofit connecting kids with serious illness and disability to college athletic teams, forming lifelong bonds & life-changing outcomes.
Kayla — who courageously persevered through a heart transplant when she was younger — signed her National Letter of Intent during a post-practice press conference held in the Jenny Craig Pavilion media room in front of her family and new teammates.
After making things official and receiving her team gear, Kayla noted that her biggest inspiration is her mother, and that she is excited to be a part of an elite volleyball program.
The Toreros will resume their pursuit of a national championship in August.
