PROVO, Utah – The San Diego softball program (19-26-1, 4-4 WCC) dropped both games of the doubleheader at BYU (27-13, 6-2 WCC) on Friday, falling 8-1 in game one and 12-1 in game two at Gail Miller Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED – SAN DIEGO 1, BYU 8
- The Toreros got off a to a fast start through the first three innings, as Izzy Owen drew a walk and Alexia Torculas added a single to open the first inning.
- Following a BYU run, Owen and Mikalyn Emanuelli opened with back-to-back singles in the third, before Arisa Tovar drove in Owen with an RBI sacrifice fly to tie the game at 1-1.
- BYU was able to generate a quick response, with two runs in the bottom half of the third.
- The Cougars continued to create breathing room throughout the next few innings, building a 6-1 advantage.
- The Toreros attempted a late rally, as Tovar and Joecellia Roberts each tallied singles in the sixth inning, but were ultimately stranded on the basepaths.
- A pair of BYU runs in the seventh helped put the series opener on ice for the home side.

HOW IT HAPPENED – SAN DIEGO 1, BYU 12 (F/5)
- The Toreros opened with another promising start, but were unable to take advantage of an early opportunity.
- Owen led off the game by reaching on an error, followed by an Emanuelli walk and Torculas reaching on an error.
- However, all three runners were stranded on three consecutive strikeouts.
- BYU would strike for five runs in the bottom of the first, but the Toreros didn't quit.
- Amanda Limon cut the deficit to four with her first collegiate home run, launching a ball over the left center field wall off the batter's eye to make it 5-1.
- The Cougars would pull away over the next few innings, increasing their lead to 12-1.
- San Diego would get one last chance to extend the game, as Emanuelli and Torculas reached with one out, but a game ending double play sealed the BYU win.

TORERO TIDBITS
- Emanuelli extended her on-base streak to eight consecutive games. The sophomore already owns the longest streak by a Torero this season at 14.
- Torculas has reached safely in eight of her first 10 games this season since returning from injury.
- Following her home run in game two, Limon stays red hot and has hit .500 (9-for-18) with a home run, double, triple and three RBI over her last seven games.
