AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 34 San Diego women's tennis program (13-11, 6-1 WCC) dropped their NCAA Tournament second round matchup, falling to No. 8 Texas (23-4, 8-1 Big 12), 4-0, on Saturday at the Texas Tennis Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a pair of early break points from Texas during doubles, the Toreros fought their way back into the matchup.
- However, the Longhorns were able to pull away in second and third doubles, despite Solymar Colling and Kailey Evans leaving their match with a match point up 6-5.
- Singles started off quickly at the bottom half of the lineup, with Elizabeth Goldsmith and Jordyn McBride each taking the first set of their respective matches.
- While Goldsmith nearly closed in on the victory, the Longhorns stepped up to secure the match before other results started to trickle in.
