SAN DIEGO – The San Diego women's soccer program (1-6-1, 0-0-0 WCC) dropped a 4-0 decision to San Diego State (5-2-1, 0-0-0 MWC) on Thursday night at Snapdragon Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Much like the game against Northern Arizona, the Toreros faced an early deficit, as the Aztecs tallied 9th and 15th minute goals to lead 2-0.
- The Toreros attempted to prod, registering a pair of shots on goal, but the Aztecs were able to secure an additional first half goal to make it 3-0.
- Brianna Pearson delivered the best San Diego chance of the half, lacing a shot from outside the box that the Aztec goalkeeper had to tip over the crossbar.
- Pearson proved to be the leader of the offensive attack throughout the night, as she registered five shots, with one nearly finding the back of the net, but was blocked by a sliding Aztec defender.
- San Diego State put the game away in the 72nd minute with another goal to make it 4-0.
- San Diego nearly got a response in the 85th minute, as beautiful cross into the box found the head of Olivia Stone, who rang a shot off the crossbar, which kept the Toreros off the scoreboard.
