SAN DIEGO – The San Diego men's tennis program (0-0, 0-0 WCC) is set to open the 2024 spring schedule against a conference opponent, hosting LMU (0-0, 0-0 WCC) on Saturday at 10 a.m., at the Hogan Tennis Center.
OPPONENT HISTORY
- San Diego is 30-0 all-time against the Lions dating back to 1980.
- The Toreros earned a clean 4-0 sweep of LMU on Apr. 16, 2023 in the last meeting between the two sides.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
- The Toreros enter the spring schedule following a terrific fall, in which Iiro Vasa and Sacchitt Sharrma competed at ITA Fall Nationals and Oliver Tarvet shined.
- San Diego is led by reigning WCC Coach of the Year Ryan Keckley, who returns nearly his entire lineup from last season's regular season WCC title.
- Tarvet leads the way for the Toreros in the national rankings, checking in at a career-high No. 8 in the nation in singles according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
- Vasa ranks No. 31 in the nation in singles, while Stian Klaassen and Sharrma check in at No. 15 in the country in doubles.
- The Toreros have won eight straight season-openers and 16 straight home opening dual matches.
- Joining the Toreros this season is graduate student Savriyan Danilov, who hails from Moscow, Russia.
