Toreros sweep hidden dual matches for a cause on home courts
 
SAN DIEGO – USD Men's Tennis found success on and off the court as it hosted the fourth annual San Diego Veterans Tennis Classic over the weekend, going undefeated in three hidden dual matches and simultaneously promoting a great cause.
 
The Toreros won 15 of their 18 matches on the weekend, winning 5-1 over California on Friday, Sept. 4, 4-2 over Oregon on Saturday and closing out the tournament with a clean 6-0 sweep of Grand Canyon.
 
"The goal of this event is to unite this great university and the military community in San Diego through the sport of tennis while honoring the veterans who have served our nation so proudly," head coach Ryan Keckley said prior to the tournament. "This city is a military city, and we want to open up our doors and celebrate our military heritage and support veteran organizations and community partners through this weekend of competition."
 
Swiss freshman Adrien Berrut went undefeated in three matches on the weekend while San Diego won all six of its doubles matches across the three days.
 
Next the Toreros will prepare for the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, taking place in Phoenix, Ariz. From Oct. 17-22. NCAA Individual Championships qualification will be on the line while Toreros Olvier Tarvet (singles and doubles) and Stian Klaassen (doubles) have already qualified with their ITA All-American Championships titles.
