SANTA BARBARA – Looking to bounce back, the San Diego women's basketball team (2-1, 0-0 WCC) will face the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (3-2, 0-0 Big West) on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. from the Thunderdome.
USD suffered their first loss of the season against UNLV on Tuesday and will be looking to get back in the win column against the Gauchos in the final game of their four game road trip.
LAST TIME OUT
- USD is looking to bounce back from a 88-54 loss to UNLV in Las Vegas on Tuesday.
- The Toreros leading scorer last time out was Ava Ranson who poured in 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field to go along with a pair of assists and a steal.
OPPONENT HISTORY
- The Gauchos hold the overall advantage as they've won 14 of the 23 meetings between the two programs.
- San Diego won the most recent meeting between the teams seven years ago at The Thunderdome by a 71-58 margin.
SCOUTING THE GAUCHOS
- The Gauchos are 3-2 through their first five games of the season with wins over San Jose State, Claremont Mudd-Scripps and Cal Lutheran. UCSB also has lost to both San Francisco and Nevada.
- Leading the way for UCSB on the offensive end of the floor has been fifth year guard Alyssa Marin who's averaging 19.8 PPG which includes a pair of 31 point performances to begin the year.
- UC Santa Barbara's defense has held their opponents to 60.2 PPG and 35.6% shooting from the field to begin the season.
