No. 3 San Diego Drops 2-0 Decision to Portland

Pilots defeat No. 3 Toreros 2-0 at Torero Stadium

SAN DIEGO — No. 3 San Diego men's soccer (12-2-2, 6-1-0 WCC) dropped a 2-0 decision to Portland (7-4-7, 4-0-4 WCC) on Saturday evening, snapping a six game winning streak as it fell in a heartbreaker to the Pilots at Torero Stadium on senior night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Saturday evenings conference clash started off slow as neither team could muster a strong chance at goal through the first half of play.
  • The Toreros nearly found the back of the net in the 59th minute when Cesar Bahena fired off a shot towards goal inside the box but it was stopped by the Pilot goalkeeper to keep it scoreless.
  • The Pilots scored two goals in the 63rd and 83rd minute to give them a 2-0 lead they would not relinquish.
TORERO TIDBITS
  • San Diego out-shot the Pilots 18 to five.
  • Inigo Villaldea and Bahena led the way for the Toreros with four shots apiece.
  • USD limited Portland to just two shots on goal.
